The Spotted Hog® Whipped Butter Lotion and Perfume
Note to my customers about my line:
I created these wonderful concoctions for myself out of necessity. I unfortunately have ridiculous hypersensitivities due to an auto immune disorder to an array of popular ingredients that are in just about all bath and body products sold. Including some fragrance compounds which is crazy because, Hello! I'm a candlemaker. Fragrance is my business so go figure.
You will also notice this page and product line is done in shades of purple. It's not just because I love purple, it's to signify support and awareness for Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus suffers such as myself.
Auto immune disorders are a serious pain in the ass, and some of us deal with additional strange side effects and sensitivities that are not quite understood just yet. I made something that worked for mine and I wanted to share it.
So, a little about why I did what I did....You may or may not care, it's a little crazy. Feel free to skip ahead.
I've tried pretty much everything I could get my hands on and either it didn't work, burned my skin, made me itch, gave me hives, made my skin feel like I was coated in wax or something slimy, or just smelled so awful it gave me a headache and I just couldn't stand it.
The itching and burning effects of some products lasted even after I washed it off, so when I had a reaction, it took a few days to get back to normal.
I've tried pure oils and fancy butters from exotic places I'm not sure exist in hindsight, but nevertheless, it didn't work out. I don't want to be greasy and I hate the smell of some of those "magic" organic butters and blends. I don't care if they were procured by Pixies, imported from the South of France and blessed by Unicorns. Add all the tapioca starch and arrowroot powder you want, My skin still felt greasy.
My journey didn't end there, I also tried the pure stuff. I purchased from very trustworthy online soap supply houses, regular store and- Organic grocery store (quadruple priced)- Coconut, Vitamin E, Babassu Oil, Avocado, Grapeseed, Argan and Sunflower oil (I'll stop there, you'll be here all day the list is huge.) actually burns my skin. If I rub any one of those ingredients in-between my palms they'll turn bright red with little white blotches and it stings. Same thing with all silicones, it's like rubbing on a layer of fresh sunburn. (hypersensitive, told you so) I don't think I've ever actually finished a bottle of lotion from any company, I usually end up throwing it out or giving it away. Until I made this stuff.
So what I cooked up is a simply whipped butter lotion. It's not a new concept, but it's my special recipe consisting of very high quality (and very expensive) Mango Butter and other carefully sourced ingredients.
Mango Butter being #1, Shea Butter - (deodorized of course), Organic Apricot Oil, Organic Sweet Almond, a Paraben and Formaldehyde free Preservative, Fragrance and Color (optional for those that can't deal with colorants and scents). There's not a ton of crazy stuff in the bottle, it's really all about the quality of the ingredients, proportions and where the ingredients come from. None of that -Add a drop of some crazy rare expensive oil you never heard of, in such teensy amounts you'll never get any benefit from, at the end of the list to jack up the price business.
Look up what's in the bottle, I list what's in there. It's just simple good stuff that makes your skin feel and look amazing.
There was no animal testing creating these products, I only tested on myself and other humans, and maybe the occasional small child here and there. I gave the failed batches and scents that didn't smell good to people I don't like.
These products are made in my spare time. It's a my hobby and I do it on weekend "me time".
Some people bake, read or knit. I can't sew or knit for crap, and I went low carb, dropped a lot of weight- cookies and cake are no longer in my life. This is what I do to relax. These products are ready to ship but if you order candles in the same order you're going to wait.
If you have a request email me.
If you have a sensitivity to anything listed or need a nut free version I can do that too. I don't have a separate nut free zone facility but can certainly make you a whipped butter lotion with no nut oils. If you're an anaphylactic shock type nut allergy person, do not use my lotion. I'm just trying to moisturize and soften your skin and make it non irritated with a nice glow, I'm not trying to kill anyone.
More stuff on the way.....
Thanks for reading!
